Horses and wine come together at EqWine Estate in Petaluma, Calif., A 42-acre property listed this week for $ 12.95 million.
There are over 7,000 square feet of living space, approximately 16 acres of pinot noir vineyards for wine lovers, and a profitable equestrian facility with 68 indoor and outdoor stalls and arenas, according to Tim Rangel’s listing of Sotheby’s International Realty. – Wine Country Brokerage.
âThe house overlooks vineyards and horseback riding facilities, as well as the hills of Petaluma and up to Sonoma Mountain,â said Mr. Rangel, who shares the list with Michael Fanelli of Healdsburg Sotheby’s International Realty.
Owner Ron Noble purchased the estate in 1999 with the vision of building all three elements: the house on the upper part, the stables on the lower part and the vineyard in the middle. Mr Noble, a civil engineer, designed the house and commissioned an architect to polish it, he said.
âMy goals were privacy, beautiful views and a peaceful setting for me to get away from it all, relax and enjoy it,â he said.
The hacienda-style home offers a number of outdoor spaces for enjoying views of the estate, including a pool and deck, outdoor kitchen, and covered terraces. There are also oversized arched windows that frame views throughout.
Other features include exposed beams, custom joinery, a chef’s kitchen with an island and breakfast room, four fireplaces, and, unsurprisingly, a wine cellar, according to the list. There is also a two bedroom guest house.
Mr Noble, 77, had initially planned a small equestrian facility for his personal animals, which he was showing at the time.
âI was looking for a property for only a few horses, then I determined if I was going to make the effort to take care of a few horses. keep my horses there, âhe added.
So Mr. Noble’s vision of keeping three to five horses became a big deal. In addition to the 68 stalls, the barn is equipped with everything needed to take care of the animals and their owners, Mr Rangel said.
The vineyard arrived around 10 years later, although Mr. Noble only started making wine himself a few years ago. Until 2018, he sold the grapes.
âI had twice the harvest I expected to have, so I quickly decided to go into wine production⦠and all the wine we produced in 2018 and 2019 marked the 90s. “, he explained, referring to the 100 points. wine rating system used in industry.
