Lohien: Lohian Khas police arrested a local resident for smuggling alcohol. Investigator (IO) Sawindar Singh said 14 bottles of alcohol were seized from the accused identified as Harwindar Singh, alias Sonu, a resident of Ward No 9, who was selling bootleg alcohol in his grocery store from the village of Sabuwal. A case under Sections 61/1/14 of the Punjab Excise Act has been filed against the accused. Meanwhile, Nakodar police arrested Satnam Singh from Aulakh village with nine bottles of hooch, IO Mohann Singh said. Shahkot police also charged Amarjit Singh from Burrewal village for selling booze and recovered nine bottles, IO Daljit Singh said. CO
Maheru villager detained for murder
Nakodar: Mehat Pur police arrested a villager accused of murdering a 22-year-old boy. Nirmal Singh, IO said the accused was identified as Ram Lubhaya, a resident of Maheru village. The OI said the defendant murdered Ranjit Singh alias Shiva (22) from the same village in June 2021. He said it was a case under Articles 302 (murder) 342 ( sequestration) 120-B (criminal association, 148 and 149 ( riots) of the IPC was registered. OC

Shahkot: Shahkot Police have charged an unidentified vehicle driver with causing the death through negligence and reckless driving. Jatindar Singh from Malsian village, complained to police that an unidentified driver of a vehicle killed his father Gian in an accident on Railway Road on January 13. IO Gurdial Singh said a case under Sections 304-A (causing death by negligence) and 279 (conducting rash) of the IPC has been registered against the unidentified defendant. CO
Man arrested for harassing women
Shahkot: Shahkot police have charged an unidentified person with indecent exposure of a woman. IO Kashmir Singh said the victim of Nakodar, currently living in Shahkot, complained to police that an unidentified person harassed her by calling her from unidentified numbers on January 5. The IO said a case under Sections 354-A (sexual harassment) and 354-D (harassment of a woman) of the ICC has been filed. CO

Shahkot: Shahkot police have arrested a drug dealer on charges of selling heroin. SHO Darshan Singh said 10 grams of heroin was recovered from Mukhtiar Singh alias Babbu of Bahabar Ke village under Shidham Bet police station in Ludhiana. The SHO said one case under Sections 21/61/85 of the NDPS Act has been registered. CO
Man killed in road accident
Hoshiarpur: A man, injured in a road accident on January 10, died while being treated at the PGI. Garhdiwala police have registered a case in this regard. According to reports, Teja Singh, a resident of Pandori Sumla village, told police that on January 10, his brother Gurdas Singh was run over by a vehicle near Pakhowal. After which he was taken to PGI in critical condition, where he died during treatment. One case has been recorded. CO
3 booked for opening fire
Hoshiarpur: In the case of the aerial shootings after a minor altercation, Model Town Police filed a case against three defendants, including a couple and their son. According to reports, Himanshu, a resident of Bhagat Nagar, filed a complaint with the police that he was near Ambedkar Chowk on the evening of January 13. During that evening, a car hit him. For this reason, he had an argument with Bittu, a local resident. According to him, due to the said enmity, the accused Bittu, his wife Asha and his son Himushu and about 15 of their associates approached his house and started throwing stones. He alleges that during this time the accused fired two aerial shots outside his house. He said that as soon as the inhabitants of the mohalla started to gather, the accused slipped away. CO

Hoshiarpur: District police arrested four smugglers, including a woman, who collected a huge amount of intoxicants from them. Mehtiana police reportedly arrested two smugglers, recovering 20 grams of heroin from them during a naka in the area. The defendants were identified as Davinder Singh, a resident of Mayopatti, Kapurthala district, and Davinder Singh, a resident of Makhangarh. Bullowal Police arrested Dhakkowal resident Harpreet alias Mota and recovered 47g of intoxicating powder from him. CO
