Napa County Agricultural OfficeSeptember 20 – Napa, California—The Napa County Agricultural Office is proud to celebrate and recognize National Farm Health and Safety Week 2021 (September 19-25) in Napa County.

This annual promotion initiated by the National Safety Council has been proclaimed as such by every sitting US president since Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1944. The National Farm Health and Safety Week is led by the National Education Center for Agricultural Safety (NECAS), the agricultural partner of the National Security Council. The theme for National Farm Safety and Health Week 2021 is “Safety on the Farm Gets Real Results”. This theme is one that reminds us that the implementation of best occupational health and safety practices is in everyone’s interest in order to prioritize the health and safety of those who work so hard in our agricultural sector.

In Napa County, as we progress through the pandemic, we have created health and safety changes destined to be long-standing in the farming community to protect health and well-being. of our workers and to ensure that their safety is paramount. The latest recommendations from the CDC, CalOSHA, US Centers for Disease Control, and UC Davis Western Center for Agricultural Health and Safety are being implemented by Farm Bureau members across Napa Valley as long-term best practices on the workplace to mitigate COVID-19. to the extent possible.

Additionally, at the height of the pandemic, the Napa County Farm Bureau, in conjunction with excellent leadership from the Saint Helena Hospital Foundation, was able to rapidly vaccinate hundreds and hundreds of Napa County farm workers to donate priority to their health, while also working. with the UC Davis Western Center for Agricultural Health and Safety to provide the best occupational safety and personal health equipment to Napa Valley agricultural workers on an ongoing basis.

Our Napa County farming community continues to do exemplary work in realizing the importance of best agricultural health and safety practices and is constantly working to ensure that farm businesses are successful in their efforts to not only ensure the the health and safety of our workers, but also our entire Napa County community.

We are proud of the commitment our organization and our community at large have made to ensuring the health and safety of our farm workers during these difficult times. We recognize and celebrate the men and women of Napa County agriculture who have encountered unprecedented challenges, but who continue to work with diligence and pride while serving our community and making Napa County a true world class. .
