Southeastern Grocers (SEG) has launched WDs Wine, Beer & Liquor, a new retail concept that provides an engaging shopping experience for customers looking for affordable alcoholic beverages and fine foods for social occasions or simply for fun.

WDs Wine, Beer & Liquor premiered Wednesday morning in the Miramar community of Jacksonville, Fla., The hometown of SEG, which operates the Winn-Dixie, Harveys and Fresco y Más supermarkets. Along with a groundbreaking ceremony, the grand opening of the 8,900-square-foot stand-alone store featured celebratory champagne, entertainment, samples and freebies to customers, including produce and charcuterie boards wrapped with cheeses from specialty and accompanying articles.

Located at 4472 Hendricks Ave. in Jacksonville’s Miramar Center shopping mall, WDs is home to more than 1,700 red, white and sparkling wines, including 700 imported varieties and a handful of luxury and rare offerings, SEG said. A bottle cooler is available to buyers to chill any champagne or wine in minutes, and a wine tasting station serves free samples of 10 varieties.

The “Beer Cave” offers over 500 varieties of beers, including a “local” showcase of 73 beers from Florida and 22 beers from the First Coast region, such as beers from Intuition Ale Works, from Veterans United Craft Brewery. , Bold City, Ruby Beach Brewing Co. and Mocama Beer Company.

WDs also offers a wide assortment of alcohols. The store’s 1,400 spirits selections include bourbon, scotch, tequila, rum, vodka and brandy, with items that are both popular and rare. Offerings from local distillers include Citrus Distillers, Burlock and Barrel, City Gate Spirits, Two Titmice Vodka, Noble Coyote Mezcal, Gray Matter Distillery, and Marlin & Barrel Distillery. A “Mixology” provides a full line of mixers and utensils to “create the perfect cocktail,” SEG said.

But there is more than drinks. Customers will find a range of fresh foods and supplies to create charcuterie boards, including selections of fresh meats, 70 specialty cheeses and sides, plus over 45 dips and spreads, as well as a variety of fries. , crackers and toast and sweet selections for a range of occasions. Meanwhile, a “Finer Things” section includes a cellar with 40 premium cigar selections from Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic and Honduras, including top brands reflecting the tastes of the local community.

SEG said the Jacksonville store marks WDs Wine, Beer & Liquor’s first location “in the grocer’s southeast footprint,” but did not indicate any upcoming openings.
