The Kansas City Department of Aviation has announced its choice as the concession provider for the new terminal at the Kansas City International Airport.

Kansas City asked for a company to manage the dealerships and suppliers, but allow the new terminal to be Kansas City-only. Build KCI said there will be room for the American Jazz Museum, the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, and the City Market to be represented.
The department said the new franchise program will feature local brands like Charlie Hustle, Christopher Elbow, Urban Café, Stockyards Brewing Co., and more. And, yes, there will be a barbecue.
He promises that a full list will be announced soon.
There is also a promise to include small businesses owned by women and minorities while generating local jobs in the future terminal.
Representatives said the goal is for travelers to find unique stores and foods that can only be found in Kansas City, but also reasonably priced.
Discussions and testimony on the contract are expected to continue in the Transportation, Infrastructure and Operations Committee before moving to full council. The members of the municipal council will have the final vote.
